Children who have a disability need adaptive equipment to help them with some of their basic movement around the house and in the community and with everyday living skills. Some examples of adaptive equipment are a standing frame to help them to stand, a walker or gait trainer to help with walking, an adapted seat to eat and play or a bath seat to hold them when they are bathing.

With adaptive equipment, children with disabilities can play and interact with their siblings or peers, move more independently, improve their learning, and have more independence in their personal skills such as eating, dressing and bathing. This leads to a happier child and providing the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.

Donating equipment is easy. Complete the online Donate Equipment page form with a picture of the equipment you would like to donate. A staff member will contact you to arrange a Drop off time. Please note that we do not accept hospital beds, stairlifts, custom-fit braces, power wheelchairs or damaged equipment. To verify a warehouse date, click to lend a piece of equipment and view the possible pick-up dates on our system.

COLE is a “loaner” program, designed to provide equipment for children that are unable to obtain the needed equipment through other means or to be used while waiting for their equipment to be approved. It is not intended to be a family’s first and only resource for long term equipment needs. Any family with a special needs child, regardless of income level, may borrow appropriate equipment as long as they agree to our Agreement To Borrow Equipment – Release of Liability form. COLE reserves the right to refuse equipment loans.

There is no specific time limit. Please return the equipment once your child is no longer using it so COLE can loan it out to another child in need.

During our first year of operation, a family can borrow one piece of equipment at one time. Our goal is to change this to up to two pieces of equipment at one time.

Pick-ups are by appointment only at the Family Achievement Center in Woodbury. Donations Days are the 1st Saturday of each month from 2pm to 5pm.

Pickup Address:
2101 Wooddale Dr Ste. A,
Woodbury MN 55125

COLE is a non-profit organization that runs solely upon the donations of individuals. While we have a “suggested donation” of $25 per piece of equipment, this fee is not required. Any monetary donation helps cover operating costs and the purchase of new equipment. Click here to make your donation today.

The family must have a therapist available to check the safety and sizing of the equipment as the COLE is unable to provide these services.

NO. A family member may pick up the equipment. However, the parent or legal guardian must complete a signed Release-of-Liability that can be submitted prior or at the pick-up time. Please make sure the online reservation is under the parent or legal guardian name.

Yes. Loaning of the equipment is contingent upon the family completing the release of liability agreement.

The credit card is only used as a security deposit. If you do not have a credit card, please contact us to make other arrangements.

At this time, we can’t accommodate requests for equipment outside of our current inventory. However, it is helpful to know what you are looking for. Please email us at info@thecolefoundation.com with your request so we can track interest. Our goal is to purchase hard to obtain equipment once enough funding and grants are received for your special needs kiddos.
